Just wanted to pen down how goddamn mentally/emotionally resilient Stephen is as a superhero in both mcu and comics (hence why I like him haha).
He's the only one who can actually say he's died over and over again for the earth. He's also willing to do it all over again for humanity's survival (and no one would ever know, nor does he want them to).
Would he sacrifice himself for others? Of course, he's done it before. But would he sacrifice his friendships? His loved ones? The answer is yes. Being sorcerer supreme is a heavy and lonely burden, of cosmic existential horrors. It's also a very morally grey one.
With the ability to see the future, would he decide to pre-emptively cull future threats? Most probably. It's a dangerous, dangerous line of thought. I have no doubt it weighs heavily on his mind as an ex-doctor with oaths to do no harm and not play god. Being a Hippocratic hypocrite is just part and parcel to the title of sorcerer supreme. I'm sure he tries his hardest and exhausts all options prior to these decisions, but he makes them nonetheless.
Doctor Strange is badass and strong not simply because of his intelligence, wit and array of spells. Plenty of Marvel's superheroes possess all those qualities, potentially even greater than Stephen. But his arc of surrendering into being a "speck in this multiverse" and doing his damn hardest for an unknowing and thus, ungrateful, universe appeals to me so much.
